Some financial support for Hope Cemetery comes from an endowment overseen by the Hope Cemetery Corporation Board of Directors. Additional support comes from charges for burial lots. Tax deductible donations to continue the upkeep and general operation and for improvements of the cemetery are always welcome since endowments decrease as expenses and the number of graves increase.

Hope Cemetery is a 501 (c) (13) corporation, a non-profit mutual cemetery corporation whose income can be used for ordinary expenses of operating, maintaining and improving the cemetery. Donations to Hope Cemetery for general use are deductible as charitable contributions on the donor’s federal income tax. Payments for perpetual care of a specific lot are not deductible.

The cemetery is not town-owned; however, the town makes a contribution towards the upkeep of veterans’ graves. Veterans place small flags on all stones of veterans during a period around Memorial and Flag Days.

Gifts are most welcome including outright financial donations and bequests. Checks may be made out to Hope Cemetery.
